Pre-Kindergarten children leave St. James’ Preschool fully prepared for kindergarten. Our Pre-K class will have no more than 10 children, which ensures that each child receives plenty of individual attention while working on such important skills. Pre-K children experience the Itty Bitty Bookworm curriculum in their classroom, where they focus on one book a week and complete activities in language development, mathematics, science, cooking, art and more to complement the literature. These students are encouraged to participate in more writing and pre-reading activities while still maintaining our work-through-play philosophy.
Pre-K students continue to develop their social skills by teacher encouragement to work together on solving problems. Our Pre-K children work this year on independence and creativity in the classroom to prepare them for kindergarten. Students also work hard on art pieces for their Annual Art Show, which takes place one evening in the spring. Children enrolled in Pre-K will graduate from St. James’ Preschool will an appreciation of themselves and others, a wealth of pre-reading skills and a love of learning.
